Water Mattersimportance of water

Our bodies are made of mostly water.  Most people run around dehydrated most of the time.  This effects every area of their body; from proper brain function to liver and kidney issues, and of course causes dry skin and wrinkles.

And no, coffee, sodas and juices do not count!  You wouldn’t wash your toothbrush or your dishes in orange juice would you?  Of course not!  Water is the great cleanser and purifier of our bodies. You need to be drinking half your body weight in ounces just so your body can function.  If you are doing any physical activity, under stress or it is hot out; you need even more!

Dehydration is linked to much illness and disease!

My research indicates a direct relationship between the level of water in the body and the rate of tryptophan transfer across the blood-brain barrier. In dehydration, less tryptophan gets across. The level of tryptophan entry into the brain determines the intensity of the pain sensation. When there is less tryptophan, the pain sensation registers more intensely. With increased tryptophan getting into the brain, the pain sensation decreases until it disappears.

An experiment was conducted on volunteers to see how dehydration affected their mental and psychomotor performance during ta 24 hour fluid intake deprivation. These volunteers were give a battery of computer generated psychological tests testing position discrimination, short-term.  Time in task solving, total errors as well as mood self-estimate scales of depression, working energy, anxiety, and self-confidence  were used to give emotional reporting.

 

The results of this experiment showed that during dehydration, there was significant deterioration in total test solving time, minimum single task solving time, and total ballast time.
